For The Bathroom:

Shower Stall Film

* Rub lightly with a plain piece of dry fine steel wool (not the soap filled variety). Try a patch first to be sure it isn’t scratching your tile. If it is, you should use a finer piece of steel wool. As you scour the tile, you will see the scum coming right off. Wash down after the job is completed.

Welcome to my Donna’s did you know diary for this month and pleased to share the following with you.

Here’s what I learned for this month.

  • About jalapeno peppers

They can irritate your skin when you interact with them.

Best to wear rubber gloves when working with them.

  • An important tip on steak!

Did you know that it takes longer to digest steak than it does for chicken, pork, lamb, or fish?

  • About knowing what to do if your blood pressure level is too low!

Eat something that is a bit salty!

  • About what to do if your sugar level is a bit low!

Take something that is a bit sweet!

  • About wall nuts and almonds?

2 of the most nutritious types of nuts for you to eat.

  • And in case you were wondering about some differences between orange juice and grapefruit juice?

Grapefruit juice contains more acid than does orange juice.

  • What’s this about some benefits to drinking coconut water daily?

Well!  The experts tell us that the drinking of coconut juice helps to keep our kidneys healthy!

  • What is the difference between hand sanitizer and hand soap?

For hand sanitizer, you do not need to use water.

Whereas for hand soap you do.

Making Things Work – We Need To Change Our Attitudes!

Making things work.

I am not sure if we have fully realized that the only way for anything to work is for us to get behind the team building strategy.  Yes!  Stop complaining and groaning!  Stop the fault finding and the pessimism!

Instead, we need to find solutions and not create problems.  We need to engage more and communicate more!  Whenever someone tells me that something was not done right my response is to invite them to join me in finding and coming up with a solution.

Too much of the time the complainer finds an anemic excuse  such as they do not have time or that they have too much on their plate!  Not good enough!

I say to any naysayer; if you are unable to put a foot forward to help then please be quiet!  The only way to make things work is for us all to start rowing in the same direction!  No more faltering and fumbling!  No more backward glances!  It’s straight ahead and eyes forward!

My final thoughts?

We need to realize that the only way out of this present horrible situation that we have helped to create is for us to change our attitudes and do it now!

Nothing good is going to come to us if we continue to complain instead of commit!

Just my two cents for today.

A review of the Arribas Cintra hotel In Portugal

A review of the Arribas Cintra hotel in Portugal
By Donna Jodhan
Award winning advocate and sight loss coach

Introduction:
What draws me to this airport is its very friendly ambiance, the helpfulness of its staff, and accessibility overall.

So how would I rate their services? With 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, here are my ratings.
Service desk assistance – 5
Assistance for guests with special needs – 5
Assistance at restaurant – 5

Remarks :
Staff had no difficulty conversing comfortably in English.
Access to the restaurant was extremely user friendly for a vision impaired person and navigating among the tables was not very difficult.

About airport staffstaff:
They went way above the call of duty!

Any suggestions?
Just keep up your wonderful work!

Ask Sight Loss Coach Donna J. Jodhan – Best ways to communicate when wearing a mask!

Ask the Coach!

November 16 2023

My name is Donna Jodhan and I am using my extensive experience as a sight loss coach as well as my lived experience to share and respond to questions that are submitted to me and I also invite you to share your thoughts on questions asked.

For this week:  a question from Brad in Vancouver Canada.

Brad would like to know some best ways to communicate when wearing a mask.

My response:

Brad, communicating when wearing a mask is often difficult at the best of times for anyone.

It is difficult to be heard.

It is difficult to communicate.

It is almost impossible to read lips.

Speaking more loudly really does not help.

Probably best to remove your mask before you communicate.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Tell us what you think!  Share your feedback and let’s get more ideas cracking!

It’s important for us to share how we do things!

To contact me with a question or a thought; please send an email to me at donnajodhan@gmail.com and I’ll be sure to respond in 5 business days at the most.

If you wish me to respond earlier then put the word important in your subject line and I’ll do my best to respond more quickly.

Until the next time then!

I’m Donna wishing you a pleasant day and thanking everyone for their insightful feedback and suggestions!

Ask Sight Loss Coach Donna J. Jodhan – Can a blind person take pictures with an I Device?

Ask the Coach!

November 23 2023

My name is Donna Jodhan and I am using my extensive experience as a sight loss coach as well as my lived experience to share and respond to questions that are submitted to me and I also invite you to share your thoughts on questions asked.

For this week:  a question from Alex in Copenhagen Denmark.

Alex would like to know if a vision impaired person can take pictures with their iPhone.

My response:

Alex, I personally do not take pictures with my iPhone.  However I believe that there are ways to do this.

I personally believe that it would be difficult for a vision impaired person when it comes to focusing and lining up the iPhone against the intended picture.

I am going to leave it to others to give their feedback.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

When The Dust Settles – What Should We Expect?

When the dust settles.

I often wonder if the dust will really settle?  What can we really expect to look forward to?  And if it does settle then what could we expect to find?

There are so many unknown and moving variables.  So many unpredictable to consider and most of all; for whereas we would love to believe in those polls recent trends have clearly shown us that polls cannot be relied upon to help us predict let alone manage our futures.

The world continues to reel from so many events.  Many are our of our own  making but on the other hand many are nature’s way of telling us how unhappy she is with us!  We continue to either intentionally ignore obvious warning signs or maybe we are just too caught up in our own selfish selves to take note.

My humble opinion is that yes; there are strategies that we can deploy to help us to better understand how to manage our lives and our futures when the dust does finally settle.

However, until we become more open to thinking of others more and less of ourselves it will be extremely difficult for us to deal with a world if/when the dust does finally settle.

My final thoughts?

We are living in a very troubled world and no one really knows if the dust will really ever settle!

I can only hope and Pray that for our kids; the dust settles much sooner than later!

Just my two cents for today

Would The Real Toronto Star Newspaper Please Stand Up? – Time To Start Pushing For More

Would the real Toronto Star Newspaper please stand up?

Just imagine my shock and surprise when I resumed home delivery of the Toronto Star a few months ago.  This after I had not done so since before the Covid years.

What a shock and what a disappointment.  And why was I shocked?

Simple!  The size of the newspaper being delivered daily had shrunk dramatically and on time delivery was quite often not on time.  In years gone by, the size of the Toronto Star was much larger and the Saturday edition was extremely bulky.

As it stands today, the size of this long standing newspaper has shrunk dramatically and delivery service has also deteriorated.

One thing however had not changed; Telephone customer service still remains very good.

One thing still exists!  The delivery person still continues to throw the newspaper at my condo door and one of these days they are certainly going to ruin my newspaper with their action.  Yes!  They are surely going to rip some of the pages.

My final thoughts?  With good customer service, I think that the Toronto Star now needs to work on how their delivery team delivers papers.  Please stop throwing papers at our doors!

Just remember; there are still many who enjoy reading their newspaper that are a bit bulky!

Just my two cents for today
