A review of the Marshall store in the Fairview Mall – accessibility friendly

A review of the Marshall store in the Fairview Mall
By Donna Jodhan
Award winning advocate and sight loss coach

Introduction:
This store is very warm and welcoming and its staff go way beyond the call duty to provide service.

So how would I rate their services? With 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, here are my ratings.
Service desk assistance – 5
Assistance for customers with special needs – 5
Assistance at store – 5

Remarks :
Access to the store was extremely user friendly for a vision impaired person and navigating among and between the aisles was not very difficult.

About store staff:
They are extremely helpful, service oriented, and ever ready to help.

Any suggestions?
Keep up your magnificent work!

For any stain:

* Make a sudsy solution of Tide laundry detergent and water. Brush the suds into the stain vertically and horizontally with a soft brush. Blot dry as much as possible. If stain persists, repeat process.

Grease Stains:

* Pour a generous amount of either baking soda or cornmeal over the spots and brush lightly through the pile of the rug. Leave overnight and vacuum off the next day.

Doggy Spots:

* Rub with a solution of vinegar or lemon juice and warm sudsy water. Blot and repeat if necessary. Or blot up thoroughly. Then pour club soda over the spot. Blot again. Important tips from the travel table
From the pages of Donna’s diary
Where to pack one’s medication

Now, I am going to focus on where to safely pack one’s medication when preparing for air travel. If you are like me with a lot of medication, here is what I do.

I put it all into my carry on. I separate my medication into separate zipper bags. The vitamins go into one zipper bag and my daily medication or vital medication go into another bag.

I put both bags into my carry on. However, I would normally pack another small pouch into my carry on and this contains such pills as for nausea, upset stomach, and other similar types of situations. Finally I always remember to pack some tylenol and Aspirin in my purse.

A bit of this and a bit of that from Donna’s did you know diary
Award winning sight loss coach, author and advocate

Welcome to my Donna’s did you know diary for February and pleased to share the following with you.

Here’s what I learned for this month.
1) How can you tell that jade is real?
Why! It is cold to the touch.

2) About the behaviour of the sea!
Best time of the year to swim in the sea is during the months of July, August, and September when the sea is calmest.
The sea is usually roughest in December and January.
And the sea is usually highly populated with those jelly fish that sting during March and April. Their colours are normally pink or blue.

3) About travel seasons!
Low season is usually from early April to mid December and high season is usually from Mid December to end of March.

4) Having problems getting rid of those persistent paint smells?
Just place a bowl of water in the corner of the room where the smells are coming from
And add a few drops of white vinegar to the bowl of water.

5) Differences when cooking with gas versus cooking with electricity
Gas cooks faster but food does not stay warm as long as when cooking with electricity.
Gas cooks faster than electricity.

6) An interesting tidbit on ketchup:
There seems to be 2 different types of ketchup on the market today:
Tomato and o yes! Ketchup made from papaya.

7) An important tip on beer!
Before serving or offering beer, check its colour and if it is dark then it is not good.

8) Now, if you have 2 copies in your hand of the same document, how can you tell which is the copy and which is the original?
The copy’s letter head will always appear in black and the original’s letter head will be in either blue or another colour.

That’s it for this month.

Ask sight loss coach Donna J. Jodhan – Finding wooden spoons for stirring the pot, Cooking rice and pasta in the microwave, cooking bacon in the microwave without making a mess

Ask the Coach!

February 2024

My name is Donna Jodhan and I am using my extensive experience as a sight loss coach as well as my lived experience to share and respond to questions that are submitted to me and I also invite you to share your thoughts on questions asked.

For this month :  a question from Ryan in Dublin Ireland.

Ryan is looking for Finding wooden spoons for stirring the pot

My response:

Ryan, I like using wooden spoons to stir my pot.

You can find them in almost every kitchen store or even in a hardware store.

Wooden spoons are much better when using to stir your pot as they do not scratch the bottom of your pot.

Rubber made spoons are also quite good.

I hope this helps.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Tell us what you think!  Share your feedback and let’s get more ideas cracking!

It’s important for us to share how we do things!

a question from Lilli in Budapest Hungary.

Lilli would like to know if there is a way to cook rice and pasta in the microwave.

My response:

Lilli, yes!  I believe that there are those special gadgets or pots that you can use in your microwave.

They have a cover, are very easy to place in your microwave, and I recently came across one at a kitchen store.

I hope that this helps.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Tell us what you think!  Share your feedback and let’s get more ideas cracking!

It’s important for us to share how we do thin

a question from Shane in Saint Lewis Missouri.

Shane is wondering about Finding a way to cook bacon in the microwave without the bacon splattering.

My response:

Absolutely Shane and I recently bought one of those special gadgets that you can use when cooking bacon in your microwave.

It is a neat little gadget and has a cover to prevent your bacon from splattering in your microwave.

Nothing worse than having to clean up after bacon has splattered in your microwave.

I bought my bacon cooker at www.blindmicemegamall.com

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Tell us what you think!  Share your feedback and let’s get more ideas cracking!

It’s important for us to share how we do things!

To contact me with a question or a thought; please send an email to me at donnajodhan@gmail.com and I’ll be sure to respond in 5 business days at the most.

If you wish me to respond earlier then put the word important in your subject line and I’ll do my best to respond more quickly.

Until the next time then!

I’m Donna wishing you a pleasant day and thanking everyone for their insightful feedback and suggestions!

January 2024

A bit of this and a bit of that from Donna’s did you know diary

Award winning sight loss coach, author and advocate

Welcome to my Donna’s did you know diary for this month and pleased to share the following with you.

Practical and natural!

Here’s what I learned for this month.

  • About laying hens:

They lay about 340 eggs annually.

  • Best not to put your wooden spoons and racks in the dish washer and why?

Because they can become warped!

  • Best way to clean your frying pans and sauce pans?

Wash them in warm water and a bit of dish soap.

  • About Magnesium?

It is most useful for circulation problems and helping to deal with cramps.

The liquid form is more affective.

  • 3 types of window cleaners?

Amonia based,
