For this month:
10 tips for learning about google docs
Love this question. Google Docs looks simple… until you realize it’s secretly a productivity machine. Here are 10 actually useful tips to level up fast:

1. Master Keyboard Shortcuts (This Is the Cheat Code)
Stop reaching for the mouse.

Ctrl/Cmd + B → Bold

Ctrl/Cmd + K → Insert link

Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + V → Paste without formatting

Ctrl/Cmd + Alt + 1/2/3 → Headings
Want the full list? Press Ctrl/Cmd + / inside Docs. Instant shortcut menu.

2. Use Headings Like a Pro
Headings aren’t just for looks — they structure your doc.

Apply Heading 1, 2, 3

Then use View → Show outline
Boom. You get a clickable table of contents on the left.

3. Turn on Voice Typing
If you think faster than you type:
Tools → Voice typing
You can even say:

“Period”

“New paragraph”

“Bold that”
It’s surprisingly accurate.

4. Use Comments Instead of Editing Directly
Perfect for group projects.
Highlight text → Click the comment icon → Leave feedback.
You can even tag someone like:
@email@example.com
They’ll get notified automatically.

5. Switch to Suggesting Mode
Top right corner → change from Editing to Suggesting
Now your changes appear like tracked edits — super useful for teamwork.

6. Use Templates (Huge Time Saver)
Instead of starting blank:
Go to the Template Gallery
You’ll find:

Resumes

Reports

Project proposals

Meeting notes
Starting structured > starting from scratch.

7. Use Explore for Quick Research
Bottom-right corner → click the ⭐ Explore icon
You can:

Search the web

Insert images

Cite sources automatically
It’s like mini-Google inside Google Docs.

8. Insert a Table of Contents Automatically
If you’ve used headings:
Go to Insert → Table of contents
It builds one instantly. And it updates itself.

9. Learn Smart Chips (They’re Sneaky Powerful)
Type:

@ and then a name → inserts contact

@ and then a date → inserts calendar date

@ and then a file name → links a Google file
It turns your doc into a connected workspace.

10. Use Version History (Your Safety Net)
Made a mistake? Someone deleted something?
Go to:
File → Version history → See version history
You can:

Restore older versions

See who edited what

Name important versions
It’s basically a time machine.

Important tips from the travel table

From the pages of Donna’s diary
An accessible medical office

Nothing pleases me more than when I encounter an accessible medical office and I truly believe that this certainly helps when I am visiting one for the first time.
Especially so if I am traveling and need to visit a medical office.

So here are some of my tips for an accessible medical office.
* It is easily accessible either via public transportation or by driving.
* It is easy to find parking If someone drives me to the office.
* I can easily find the door to the building if I take public transportation.
* The office is easy to find when I exit an elevator.
* The medical office is one where staff is friendly, warm, and welcoming.
* The reception’s desk is easy to locate.
* Reception rooms are spacious and seats are easy to find.
* Examining rooms are easy to find and spacious to navigate.

This is a good start and of course there are many other points to be considered.

I’m Donna J. Jodhan enjoying my travels.

Here are three of the most common investment scams investors should watch out for in July — scams that tend to pop up or stay active around this time of year. These are based on current fraud alert trends from market regulators and scam reporting sites:
asc.ca+2FINRA+2
1. Fraudulent Social-Media “Investment Groups”
Scammers will promote what looks like a legitimate stock or crypto investment club or group — usually on Facebook, Telegram, WhatsApp or Instagram — promising high returns or insider tips. Once enough people buy in, the scammers sell their shares, the price crashes, and ordinary investors lose money. These schemes often use cloned accounts and fake endorsements to look credible.
asc.ca
Red flags: unsolicited invites to exclusive groups, pressure to invest quickly, foreign or obscure assets pushed suddenly.

2. Fake Online Trading and Crypto Platforms
Fraudsters create platforms that look like real investment or trading sites (especially for cryptocurrencies) but are built solely to steal funds. They might offer impressive “screenshots” of returns or ask you to deposit crypto before you realize you can’t withdraw anything. This often shows up through impersonation or fake registration claims.
ciro.ca+1
Red flags:

Website isn’t registered with official securities authorities

Promises of guaranteed profits or exaggerated returns

You’re asked to pay fees in crypto before withdrawing

3. Pump-and-Dump Stock or Crypto Scams
This scam happens when scammers hype up the price of a low-volume stock or crypto token (often through online chatter) — then sell their holdings at the high price, causing the value to plunge and leaving late investors with losses. These schemes often resurface in summer when trading volumes and social-media activity rise.
asc.ca
Red flags: hype on social media without credible news, sudden price spikes followed by big drops, promoters who won’t explain fundamentals.

Tips to Protect Yourself

Always verify that the person or firm offering an investment is registered with a financial regulator.

Be skeptical of high-pressure pitches or guaranteed returns.

Never send money or crypto to someone you haven’t independently verified.

Look for official warning lists from regulators like the Ontario Securities Commission or FINRA.
