Iron

* To remove mineral deposits from the inside of a steam iron, fill it with equal parts of water and white vinegar. Let it steam for several minutes. Empty and rinse out with clear water.

* To remove melted plastic, set unplugged iron in a tray of white vinegar.

* Remove brown or burned-on spots by rubbing with a heated solution of vinegar and salt.

* Try using a small amount of toothpaste.

Jewelry

* If a silver ring turns dull and dark, soak it in 1/2 cup white vinegar and 2 tablespoons baking soda for 2 hours. Rub with a towel or brush.

* Place a piece of white chalk into your jewelry box to prevent costume jewelry from tarnishing.
