For this month:
10 tips for learning about google sheets
Here are 10 practical tips for learning Google Sheets, especially if you want to go from beginner to confident user:
1.
Master the basics first
Learn how to enter data, format cells, freeze rows/columns, and use basic formulas like SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, and MAX.
2.
Understand relative vs. absolute references
Practice using $A$1 vs A1. This is critical when copying formulas across rows and columns.
3.
Learn the most useful formulas early
Focus on high-impact ones like IF, COUNTIF, SUMIF, VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, INDEX, and MATCH.
4.
Use keyboard shortcuts
Shortcuts (like Ctrl + / to see them all) can dramatically speed up your workflow.
5.
Practice with real data
Use budgets, schedules, grades, or sales data—real use cases help concepts stick much better than fake examples.
6.
Explore filters and sorting
Learn how to filter data, create filter views, and sort by multiple columns to analyze information quickly.
7.
Get comfortable with charts
Practice turning data into charts and learn which chart types best represent different kinds of data.
8.
Learn conditional formatting
This helps highlight trends, errors, or important values automatically (e.g., color-coding high/low numbers).
9.
Use Google Sheets’ built-in help
The “Explore” button and formula suggestions can teach you new functions as you work.
10.
Watch short tutorials and replicate them
Don’t just watch—pause and recreate what you see. Hands-on repetition is the fastest way to learn.

Important tips from the travel table
From the pages of Donna’s diary
An accessible sidewalk
For me it is always so very enjoyable whenever I have the pleasure to stroll along on an accessible sidewalk.
So what in my opinion makes for an accessible sidewalk?
Here goes.
* It is free of overhanging obstacles.
* There are no obstacles in my way.
* I can move my cane freely from side to side.
* There is enough of a grassy bank on the side of the sidewalk.
* There is enough of a pronounced edge on the side nearest to the street so that I can easily distinguish sidewalk from street.
* Sidewalks are clear of snow, ice, and dried leaves.
This may not always be possible but hopefully the sidewalk is clear enough.
* There are no benches or bikes jotting out onto the sidewalk.
* The sidewalk is clear of any dog’s toilet business.
There is a lot more that I can say but for now this is it.
That’s my picture of an accessible sidewalk.
I’m Donna J. Jodhan enjoying my travels.

Practical and natural!
Welcome to my Donna’s did you know diary for this month and pleased to share the following with you.
Here’s what I learned for this month.
1) When taking a blood test and wishing to avoid those painful needles?
Ask your nurse to use a butterfly type of needle.
2) What does a typical banking phone scam sound like?
Well, they tell you that you need to send money.
They ask you for your secret access code or pin number.
They ask you for the email address that you use to send e transfers.
There may be more questions
But no bank will ever ask you to provide this type of info
Or that they want you to send money to anyone.
3) Here’s a way to lessen the pain of an injection.
Before getting your injection, take a Tylenol or equivalent pill.
4) Having problems not itching a bruise or a lesion or a rash?
Try using a comb to help you out.
5) Taking care when you get out of bed?
First, sit for a minute or two at the edge of your bed
Do not get out of bed right away and start moving around
This could cause you to become dizzy because your blood pressure level needs time to adjust to normalcy.
6) About getting rid of batteries:
Do not get rid of them by putting them in our garbage.
Recycle them.
Put them in the recycle bin.
7) A tip on opening the door to your oven while baking:
Each time you open your oven while baking, you lose at least 25 degrees in temperature.
8) A very valuable tip when trying to identify identical twins:
1 twin will have an apple shaped face
While the other will have a pear shaped face.
9) What is the difference between annuals and parenials?
Annuals spring up and flower every year after being planted.
They disappear when the cold weather descends upon us but return in the following year.
It is not the same for parenials.
Parenials only last for the year in which they are planted.
10) Some major reasons for accidents while driving!
Texting, talking on one’s phone,
Emailing while driving.

Here are 3 ⚠️ common scams to watch out for in June, especially as summer kicks off:
⚠️ Fake Summer Travel Deals
Scammers post “too-good-to-be-true” vacation rentals, airline deals, or hotel discounts on social media and fake websites. Once you pay, the booking doesn’t exist.
Watch out for: pressure to pay quickly, requests for wire transfers/gift cards, or sites with no real reviews.
⚠️ Phony Utility or Energy Rebate Messages
With higher summer utility bills, scammers send texts/emails claiming you’re eligible for a June energy rebate or that your power will be shut off unless you act now.
Watch out for: links asking for personal info, urgent language, or messages not addressed to you by name.
⚠️ Graduation & Scholarship Scams
June is graduation season, and scammers target students and parents with fake scholarships, internship offers, or “processing fees.”
Watch out for: requests to pay to “unlock” a scholarship, vague organizations, or offers you never applied for.
