Ask the Coach!

My name is Donna Jodhan and I am using my extensive experience as a sight loss coach as well as my lived experience to share and respond to questions that are submitted to me and I also invite you to share your thoughts on questions asked.

For this week:  a question from Josh in London England:

Josh asks if there are any tried and proven ways to discover stains on carpets.

My response:

Josh, this is probably one of the most difficult things for blind and vision impaired persons to work with.

If I know that something has fallen on my carpet for sure and I am able to quickly find the offending area, I do my level best to clean it with the appropriate cleaner.

Bear in mind that different types of stains require different types of cleaning agents.

I normally call on sighted assistance to help me out here.

Sometimes it is next to impossible for a blind person to be able to find and clean stains on carpets.  However I am sure that there are ways to deal with some of the more routine situations.

There are dried stains and then there are damp or wet stains which only complicate things even further.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
