We are constantly striving to protect ourselves from scams and scammers, but
most of all we need to ensure that our privacy, confidentiality, and
independence are kept safe from prying eyes and those who thrive on
destroying our right to these precious commodities.

Signing a purchase contract
In this case the objective is to ensure that you are signing something that
you fully understand and are ready to accept the requirements of the
purchase.
In the majority of cases, purchase contracts are not available in an
alternate or readable format unless you can access it online and even at
that it is often presented in PDF format which is often not readable.

What to do?
It may be best to deal with a large company instead of individuals unless
you fully trust the individual.
You need to have someone that you fully trust read this contract to you.
You need to ensure that you are receiving exactly what you are going to pay
for and that you understand all warrantees if there are any attached to this
purchase contract.

If there is a service level agreement attached to this purchase contract,
you also need to fully ensure that what you believe it to be is in reality
there.
