Each month I will be responding to a question; chosen from a pool of some of
the most commonly asked ones that I have been asked over the years and
continue to be asked.
This month, I’d like to answer the following question:
How to make hotel room outlets more accessible
This may not be very easy to do at first glace due to the requirements as to
where outlets need to be placed in a hotel room but that’s okay. There is a
very simple way to do it and when I tell you it will all click into place.
It all has to do with hotel staff helping to orientate a blind guest to
where the outlets actually are. For the most part, outlets are usually
found anywhere near to where lamps, TV sets, fridges, and other similar
things are. However, outlets can often be found along the wall away from
said locations and as a whole it is often difficult to find outlets because
of furniture being in their way.
So what can a hotel staff member do in order to improve accessibility to
outlets in hotel rooms? Nothing but to show the guest who is either blind
or vision impaired where they are.
