How to make games more accessible

Hello everyone:
Each month I will be responding to a question; chosen from a pool of some of
the most commonly asked ones that I have been asked over the years and
continue to be asked.
This month, I’d like to answer the following question:
How to make games more accessible.

In this case I will focus on online games and I’d like to proffer a few
suggestions.
1. First make sure that the website where the online game is placed can be
easily accessed by a blind person.
2. Make sure that your website is easy to navigate. That is, that the blind
player can find the desired game without having to go through too much
difficulty.
3. If you are using a security code to allow players to enter then you need
to make sure that the code can be entered by a blind person. In short, that
if you use a captcha code that a blind person would be able to hear what the
code is and that they could easily enter it.
4. If you use a process of a username and password that these fields can be
easily accessed by a blind person.
5. And most importantly, that your game has sounds and voices to enable the
blind player to participate fully without having to ask for sighted
assistance.

So how do you make sure that you can accomplish all of the above? Probably
best to engage a blind gamer to test your website and game.
